This is living - #1
1x weekly post where I share thoughts on life, music playlists, books, podcasts, and any other interesting or inspiring content that I come across each week.
Theme - Be Kind
A lot of good things came up this week as I truly started to reflect and document what’s going on in my mind. Part of this process has been using Craft as a way to build out my own personal Wiki page. (Still falling down the rabbit hole)
The biggest step was in acknowledging where I am so I can move towards the positive and joyful place I want to be.
Key takeaways:
The story I have is from the past.
What was ≠ what can be
There is a big difference between saying “I am enough” and actually believing it
Awareness ≠ resolution
I am getting better at acknowledging (awareness) what is happening, but struggle to act on it to assess and alter course. I mistook awareness as the goal when it is only the starting line.
Kindness begins with knowing yourself and believing in your value.
There is nothing I need to prove to anyone.
There never has been.
Conversation worth hearing
A short clip from their longer talk, but this struck a chord in assessing the stories and feelings I’m carrying around about my worth.
Key takeaways
We all have emotional anchors or homes that we return to. Good or bad, these spaces are the default foundation in how we live our lives and view ourselves.
The good news is that if you tend to default into negative states of mind (my home), you can move the needle with awareness and intention.
Our feelings are signals for action.
If the state you’re in isn’t what you want, and you truly want to change, it is possible.
People aren’t experiencing life. They experience what they focus on right now.
What I’m listening to
Standout this week is Jon Batiste.
In addition to being a musical prodigy, Jon also seems to be an incredible human being. Watch any conversation he has and you can tell he sees the world differently than most of us. His documentary American Symphony is worth a watch.
Bjork and Erykah Badu were additions that would not have been on my radar if not for this convo.
Thanks for sharing your time with me,
Taylor
